When you vacation in Klawunn, you live in the middle of a scenic paradise. This is precisely why we see it as our duty to preserve this valuable space - for future generations. For us, sustainability at the hotel is not just a buzzword, but a daily action with attitude.
In the valley as well as at the hut on the Kitzsteinhorn - at almost 2,000 m above sea level - we consciously focus on coexistence with nature. Maintaining the fragile balance between humans, animals and the environment is both an obligation and a matter close to our hearts.

Heat pump, sun & photovoltaics.
Energy that sounds like responsibility.
Our house is heated with two air heat pumps. Where possible, we generate hot water from solar energy. Since 2022, a 60 m² photovoltaic system has been supporting our own electricity requirements. This allows us to consistently reduce our natural gas consumption and our carbon footprint.

Origin that sounds like quality.
Our kitchen thinks sustainably. Beef, veal and dairy products come directly from the Pinzgau region. Vegetables, cheese and bread as often as possible from Salzburger Land.

Cleaning & resource utilization.
Cycle that sounds like sounds like mindfulness.
We use cleaning agents and detergents from Hollu - certified with the Green Award. Packaging is reused, canisters are recycled. Our waste is completely separated: organic, plastic, metal, glass, cardboard and residual waste each find their own way.
Thanks to the 2021 renovation, the thermal insulation on the façade, roof, windows and doors has been further improved - for less energy loss and more efficiency throughout the building.

The Hotel Klawunn bears the Austrian Ecolabel - an award that requires strict criteria in energy efficiency, regional purchasing, resource conservation and fair management. For us, it is more than just a seal of quality: it confirms what we live every day.
Conscious consumption, short distances, valuable food from the Pinzgau region and respectful treatment of nature and people. This fits in with our slow travel philosophy: traveling mindfully, slowing down and experiencing the region authentically.
